Project Monitoring week commencing 4th March
After my audience feedback, I made a few corrections on my magazine. For the front cover, I made all the sell lines different fonts but kept them the same colour. Then I made the 'Exclusive Interview' black with the faded colour behind so that it was more clear to read. Therefore, now my magazine front cover is still simple, but less plain.
For the contents page, I added a detailed brief sentence for each article, to explain what the articles are about. I also made them different fonts and colours so then it made it more interesting to read and less plain. In addition, i removed the black and white image as it was too dark for the colourful page.
For the double page spreads, I did not change much. I changed a few fonts to make them fit in with the formal theme so they did not look too out of it. I also made the splatters bigger and more continuous so they were not cut off giving it a more proffesional look. I also made sure the image backgrounds were white as the article backgrounds were, so again it gave it a more proffesional clear look.

Project Monitoring week commencing 4th February

The first image is my first attempt at creating the front cover. However, it failed to become a good front cover due to the background colour of the image when I toned and changed the brightness/contrast of the front cover. Also, the writing did not look right on top of the image due to the black cardigan. And, I preferred the long shot rather than the close up as well.
The second image is my final front cover. I had previously made the front cover to look like Vogue and I had used a different image, which was put in the centre of the page, however, due to the black cardigan the text didn't look right over the image. Therefore, I changed the image to the one above, so that I could put it to one side and still have the sell lines featured just on one side of the page. And then the sell line that goes with the image can be bigger and over the text at the bottom.
To make it look like Vogue's front cover, I overlapped the image on to the text. I did this by cutting round the head with the magnetic tool and then I copied the layer which then overlapped the text. I also put the date and cost underneath the title, which is where Vogue magazine puts it.
This is the interview article. The article was a bit too long to have it on the three columns that I originally had planned, therefore as there was space on the image side I added an extra column. The splatter, and the CUSTOM title is a feature shown on every page, as a branding feature. I also had the model on the left hand side of the page so that she is facing towards the article, which brings the focus away from the image and on the article instead.
I am going to edit this page a little bit as it seems like the title and the introduction is too close to the article so it needs to be put up a little bit. Also, the 'words by...' should be put somewhere else as there needs to be a gap between the title and the article.
This is the reoccurring fashion article. The image previously was two separate images which I put together in photo shop using the blend tool. I wanted to have the models looking at each other instead of away from each other to make it seem like a more friendly appearance. I like the layout, as even though it is quite a long article it seems quite short due to the image being on the other side of the double page spread.
This article is the ethics of fashion article, which is the same as my mock up article. The image is in black and white as the images were not done in a studio so the light does not look right. Also, I took away the splatters from the original mock ups on the article side, this gave space for an extra break out box at the end, with another quote.
These are a few of the photos I had taken on the previous weekend. Even though they were not done in a studio, they turned out better than I expected. However, I still put the final image in black and white just as it made it look slightly better than the orangey yellowey colours the image is giving off. They could've been slightly better if done in a studio, but it was proving difficult to bring a sewing machine and have a desk and chair to the studio.
This is the beginning of my contents page, which is nearly done. I just need a few more articles for the beauty section to fill this space then it will be done. I copied a layout from Vogue magazine which has the same kind of fonts and set out, as this is how I wanted my magazine to feel like. They are all simple layouts which are consistent thoughout my magazine.

Project Monitoring Week commencing 28th January
After the photo shoot last Friday, I was able to start editing my photos. Therefore, I edited them in Photoshop so that they were slightly lighter and sharper, but I did not change much.
As I wanted them to be looking at each other I thought I would just simply have the two photos together, however the slight difference in colour was noticable so instead I used the blur tool in photoshop to merge and blend the two photos together.
Now you can hardly tell that they were two seperate photos as they look very similar. It was hard to make them a similar size due to the way I took the photos and how high the heels are, however, they now look a similar size.
I also, started my DPS for the reoccurring fashion article. Originally, it was on 3 pages. However, this looked lengthy and too long for my audience to read (though Vogue magazine is like this.) Therefore, I changed it so I had the original title page on one page and then the article on the other. I changed the font for the header as before it looked informal which didnt match the overall feel with the sophisticated texts. Also, the image needed a border as the grey on white looked like too much and quite boring. The splatter looked out of the DPS when it was on it's own so placing it underneath the text made it look more with it and it also now goes with the break out box which is a similar colour than before as it was bright pink. Also, the breakout box looks neater when it is in the centre of one collumn rather than between the two.
Similarly, I did the same proccess with the interview image as I just made it slightly bigger, and changed the tone and contrast to make it a more brighter and whiter background.
Audience Feedback
After asking my audience for feedback on my two articles, I found out that they 'like the break down into decades' for my reoccurring fashion article. They also like the 'quirky words which fit into the type of article,' that it is. It's also 'easy to read' and they like how I have included the fashion trends of famous people as well.
For my integrated interview they liked how it was 'not too long' and the 'relevant questions' 'keep you interested' in the article and the person they are reading about.
However, the reoccuring fashion article makes it 'hard to picture some of the trends' so I should have made time to take more pictures that will suit all the trends and decades.
For the integrated interview article there was 'not muich about the type of clothes and styles,' there was more about how she got to be a fashion designer and what she thinks about the topic ethics of fahsion.

Project Monitoring Week commencing 21st January
At the start of the week I was behind due to my exam and me participating as a model in someone else's photo shoot. However, I am now ahead of my schedule. I began my research and writing the reoccurring fashion article. I had already previously done some research but it was not enough, therefore, I decided to do some more to make a more detailed informative article.
I was only due to write one more article, however, I have written both of the articles I had to write in the next 2 weeks. I still have to do some audience feedback on both articles and edit them if depending on what they say. I will do that over the weekend ready for next week where I can start on the In Design work.
I will be shooting my photo shoot in tomorrows lesson, which will mean I can do any Photoshop work next week as well, which again puts me ahead of schedule. This will give me extra time to focus on my In Design work to make it as good as possible.
I wrote the reoccurring fashion article as a timeline going through all the decades stating from the fifties to now. This was easier writing it this way and the readers would be more interested in reading it like this as they can see what fashion was in trend each era and who was the style icon that decade as well.
I wrote the interview article as a more question and answer article as this was what my audience wanted when I asked them through feedback. To make it slightly more formal, I also wrote a 3 paragraph introduction for the interview.
In my photo shoot I will be shooting the front cover and images for two of my three double page spreads. Then on the weekend I will be hiring a camera so I can shoot my photos for the third double page spread. I am doing this in a house, as there wasn't a convenient time for my model to do the shoot in the studio and also I needed the table and sewing machine as props but these would again be inconvenient to bring into college.
I took 80 different photos during my shoot today, which was very successful and meaning I had a range of photos to choose from next week. I was able to take close up shots, portrait style shots, mid length and long shots for both models and double page spreads. For my interview article I have a portrait style shot so I can show who she is and then her posing, which will also be used for the front cover.
For the reoccurring fashion article I have two photos, they both demonstrate a 50/60's style, however one is more how they would wear it back then, which also looks like an evening look. Then another photo shows a more modern day look.
